Breast Thermography

Breast Thermography is a procedure that can detect thermobiological,
chemical, and physiological changes in the body by identifying unique heat signatures
and thermal abnormalities. It detects early and significant changes in breast tissue
and can detect structural changes.
The thermogram is done using infrared imaging to detect breast pathology. It is based on
well recognized principles that detect higher metabolic and vascular activity in the tissue
surrounding new or developing breast anomalies.
Early breast tumor growth is dependent on increased blood circulation achieved by creating
new blood vessels. This results in regional temperature variations that may be detected by
infrared imaging. At Dr. Trethart's clinic, we use state of the art, computerized, ultra
sensitive infrared cameras to detect tissue temperatures and then display them onto a high
resolution monitor.
